TfL cleans graffiti off new Piccadilly Line train ahead of testing

New Piccadilly Line train ready for testing in London

Transport for London has removed the graffiti painted onto the brand-new Piccadilly line train during delivery.

The Siemens-built unit was being delivered from the Wildenrath test track in Germany to London when it vandals targeted it in the Latchmere Junction area in the early hours of Monday.

A spokeswoman for TfL said: “All the graffiti was successfully removed on the train’s arrival at the depot and it is now ready to start its intensive testing programme, ahead of the new fleet of trains starting to enter service by the end of 2025.”

A British Transport Police spokesperson added: “We received reports at around 6.45am yesterday (14 October) of criminal damage to several train carriages. Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, quoting reference 75 of 14 October.”
