DB Cargo fits more Class 66s with in-cab monitoring equipment

DB Cargo has fitted more Class 66s with in-cab monitoring equipment following a successful trial with 66139. Now modified and so moving into the WBGT ‘Guardian’ pool, are 66004/015/025/041/068/079/094, 66120/136, although not all have returned to traffic as yet.

Two more DBC Class 66s have been stood down form the operational fleet with 66140 and 66170 moving to the  WQAA pool, and both are at Toton. 67012, one of the TfW dedicated locomotives, has also followed suit.

This may only be a short term move for the ‘66s’ as they could be reinstated for hire to Colas and  GBRf for autumnal RHTT work. There is also talk that now Toton is filling up with stored locos, and more are likely to join them, that some of these vehicles could be shipped out to other DBC sites, such as Knottingley, for safe store.
