DB Cargo's full Class 66/6 conversions identified as programme is expanded

DB Cargo 66181, in red livery, passes Barrow upon Soar on the Midland Main Line on September 6 2024, with the 1055 East Midlands Gateway-Felixstowe North intermodal. The unit has been identified as one of those next in line for conversion. PAUL BIGGS.

The re-gearing of Class 66/0s to ‘66/6s’ by DB Cargo at Toton is in full swing, with the programme extended from nine to 15 locomotives.

    It would be interesting to know just what 're-gearing' of the traction motors actually involves. I assume 66171 will now lose its EWS livery...
