Absolutely disgraceful to use diesel on a fully electrified route. If these units must be used then extend the services to Perth or beyond.

Sensible re-use of existing assets that are only halfway through their service life. Plus, able to divert when the "main wired route" is closed for events such as maintenance or a fallen tree (as at Beattock last week.
