A planning application has been submitted to the council to build the National College for High Speed Rail (NCHSR) in Doncaster.
The NCHSR will provide specialist training for future railway engineers. The Government is funding the college in order to develop a highly-skilled workforce to work on HS2.
Subject to approval from Doncaster Council, construction will begin in April 2016, with the opening scheduled for September 2017. A decision on the planning application is expected by the end of the year.
A planning proposal will also be submitted to build a second college site in Birmingham.
