Duke of Edinburgh meets Crossrail staff

The Duke of Edinburgh visited Farringdon station on October 4 to see the latest progress on the £14.8 billion Crossrail project.

He met construction workers, apprentices and engineers working on the station, which will have (at 300 metres in length) the longest platforms of any station on the Crossrail route.

More than 10,000 people are working directly on the East-West London route, which is due to open in 2018.
