Concern is mounting among business leaders in Glasgow at the economic fallout of the West Coast Main Line closure.
According to Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, the city’s economic performance is beginning to suffer from reduced connectivity and delayed journey times to the south.
Glasgow is Scotland’s largest centre of employment, and contributes 32% of Scotland’s entire economic output.
“The West Coast Mail Line is an absolutely vital link to England for business in Glasgow and many other parts of Scotland. We need to be competitive with other cities in the UK as both a business location and visitor destination, which extended periods of disruption can hinder,” said Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Stuart Patrick.
