What about Colton Junction on the East Coast Main Line southeast of York. What about improving that junction by building a new flyover to relieve congestion and the new flyover would be used as a Northbound incline as VTEC trains that are heading north from London and trains that use the North Pennine lines from Harrogate, Leeds and Manchester towards York would see Colton Junction improved with a new flyover being built for ECML.
