Brown takes up Crossrail post

Martin Brown has been appointed health and safety director at Crossrail Ltd. He moves from Transport for London, where he was head of health, safety and environment.

His previous role covered Docklands Light Railway, Croydon Tramlink and TfL Corporate. He was also chairman of the Independent Railway Assurance Board for Crossrail, and independent safety expert on the Olympic Delivery Authority Games Transport and Security Committee.

Prior to TfL, he was executive director for health, safety, quality and environment at Tube Lines from 2002 until 2005; assistant chief inspector of railways at HM Rail Inspectorate from 1997 until 2002; and HM principal inspector of factories for the Health and Safety Executive from 1979 until 1997.
