TfL to tweet travel alerts

Transport for London (TfL) and Twitter are piloting a new service alerting passengers of severe delays on London Underground and TfL rail services as soon as they occur.

The world-first service will allow anyone who follows a combination of four existing TfL Twitter feeds - London Overground, TfL Rail, Central Line and District Line - to opt in and receive instant notifications about severe disruption.

Previously passengers had to search through their Twitter timelines for the relevant tweets. Now they will receive a direct message. Timing of the messages can be tailored for when passengers travel.

Suppose it could be used for other passengers who use other tube lines and also used for DLR & TfL Rail (Elizabeth Line).
