Spoil train departs Willesden Logistics Hub

The first train carrying 1,470 tonnes of spoil from HS2 construction work in London left the Willdesden Logistics Hub on June 29.

Departing at 0351 the train, operated by GB Railfreight, travelled to Barrington (Cambridgeshire), where the spoil will be reused in a disused quarry to help bring the site back into use as a new housing development.

Up to seven freight trains per day will leave the hub, removing one million lorries from the roads in the London area alone.

One train per day will also arrive at the hub, bringing construction materials including concrete segments that are being used to build the HS2 tunnels. HS2 LTD.
