Bank branch closure for upgradeā€¦

A large section of London Underground’s Northern Line Bank branch will be closed for 17 weeks from mid-January, Transport for London has confirmed.

No services will run between Moorgate and Kennington from January 15 until mid-May, to enable key stages of Transport for London’s £700 million Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project to take place.

During the closure, TfL and its contractors will connect a new tunnel built at Bank to the existing network and install the final sections of track. The fitting out of a new platform and concourse will also be completed, alongside the integration of all new systems in the station.

Once the upgrade is complete, Bank station’s capacity will have been increased by 40% with step-free access to the Northern Line, improved access to the Docklands Light Railway platforms, and a new entrance on Cannon Street.
