New twice-daily freight connections have begun running from the Port of Immingham to Doncaster’s iPort distribution hub.
Launched on October 22 under the name ‘Humber Express’, the intermodal services will each initially transport 22 containers, but have the potential for that to be increased.
The Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce says the new service, from the DFDS Steel Terminal, “offers a seamless connection from quayside to railside, warehouse and beyond”.
Immingham is the UK’s fourth biggest port. The initial train was double-headed using Class 20s (20007 and 20205).
