HS2 leads the field in equality and diversity

HS2 Ltd continues to beat industry averages for the number of female and BAME employees working on the project, with its supply chain of 2,500 UK-based businesses achieving 28% and 18% respectively.

And although just shy of its own internal targets, the company’s own percentage of female employees reached 37%, while the number of BAME employees peaked at 22%.

HS2 Non-Executive Director Dame Judith Hackitt, the Board Champion for equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), said: “I have seen first-hand the commitment to EDI at all levels of the organisation and across our supply chain, and the value that a truly embedded inclusive culture has brought to the project.

“As we approach peak construction, it is vital that we continue to push boundaries on EDI. We are setting new EDI standards in construction and infrastructure, as demonstrated by our Clear Assured Platinum status. But we are not complacent and recognise there is still more we can do.”
