No change to service reliability with derogations - DfT

Government claims there is not expected to be any change to the reliability of services as a result of improvements to the accessibility of trains.

Currently all fleets must be fully accessible by December 31 2019 or they cannot be used. Already operators are seeking derogations due to delays to new trains and refurbishment plans.

Transport Minister Nusrat Ghani, in a Commons Written Reply on September 4, said: “There is not expected to be any change to reliability of services due to improvements to accessibility of trains. Indeed the modern trains which are transforming journey’s for all passengers on our network today are fully accessible and reliable.”

My experience of facilities with automated doors and retention tanks are they are less reliable. Unfortunately statistics of services with defective toilets are not kept so this flasehood cannot be proved wither way.
